Programming & teaching
Participants in the St. Louis Israeli folk dancing group share the
responsibilities of teaching and programming the music for our
sessions. Although this structure seems wacky to participants in
more “normal” groups, it’s been working for us for quite a while.

We
try to vary the program from week to week, mixing the "oldies" with
the latest hits. . Click here to see
photos from some of our sessions.

2008
Dance sessions
Every Thursday evening, except on Jewish or national holidays.
NOSTALGIA
NIGHTS - First Thursday of every month!
Beginners'
class: 7:45 - 8:15 pm
We encourage new dancers to join our
group. We teach beginners' dances at the start of the session.
Participation and enthusiasm have been great, and we can see the
evolution of new devotees each week.

Dances we’re learning and loving...
Some are very new [we like to stay “in-step”], some
are middle-aged [how did we miss them?], and some are from the old,
old days [we’re giving them “foot-to-foot” resuscitation].

We
get our dances the old-fashioned way: people bring them back from
workshops, or from visits to other groups in the U.S. and in Israel.
We also get them the high-tech way: by obsessively watching dance
tapes or on-line videos.
Here
are some new dances we've introduced in recent months:
Lia - Banu L'Ha'ir Et Ha'Ir - Lzafon B'Ahavah - Mi'Lemalah - Kol HaKo'ach - Miss Music -Kol HaMa'alot - Rak Shir Ga'aguim - Melach Yam - Bora Dance - Im Tirtzi La'daat
- Bait Cham
Our repertoire also includes these popular
hits: Shalom V'Ahava -Caliente Tambures - Od Nashuv- Hine MaToyv - Gam Ani Rotzeh - Shuj Shuj Zemer - Ad Sof
Ha'Olam Smolah - Yesh Li Otach - Lecha Karati -
Tzel Midbar- Yoshvim B'vet Cafe - Asi Es La Vida- Velero -Hafinale- Efrayim
And, we've recently "revived" these: Kmo
Tzoani-Bat Arad
- HaKinor HaNe'eman - BaPardes - Hinach Yaffa -
Biglal HaAhavah - Ma Avarech - Mala Mala - Ma Avarech
